| Ticona: POM consumption growing at 4-6% annually |

Current global consumption of polyoxymethylene or polyacetal (POM) is estimated to be over 750,000 t/y and is expected to increase by an average of 4-6% annually, John Caamano, head of the POM business group at Ticona, said at K 2007. In Asia, he said, growth could reach double figures. The company is also preparing itself for stricter guidelines in the automotive industry with its second, lower emission "Hostaform XAP" generation and is developing engineering plastics for use in modern fuel systems.
